ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Medical Assistant Diploma Program is a hybrid training program that prepares you to work in clinics, hospitals, physician offices, and healthcare facilities — with real skills, a real credential, and real earning power.
Program Details:

  • ⏱ Length: 8–12 months (760–1,020 clock hours)

  • 📍 Format: Hybrid (in-person + online)

  • 📍 Location: Harvey, IL

  • 💰 Cost: FREE for eligible students through WIOA, TANF, and FGLM In-House Scholarships

  • 🎓 Credential: Medical Assistant Diploma

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
This program covers everything you need to launch a career in healthcare:
🩺 Clinical Skills Vital signs, phlebotomy basics, EKG/electrocardiography, injections, patient prep, specimen collection, and assisting with minor procedures.
💊 Medical & Pharmacology Basics Medication administration, dosage calculations, and understanding prescriptions.
🖥 Administrative & Office Skills Medical terminology, electronic health records (EHR), scheduling, billing basics, and HIPAA compliance.
🤝 Professional Development Resume building, interview prep, workplace communication, and professional ethics.

OPTIONAL CONCENTRATIONS

    WHO THIS PROGRAM IS FOR

  • This program is built for you if you are:

  • A girl or young woman ages 16–24

  • Ready to commit to your future

  • Eligible for WIOA, TANF, or in need of scholarship support

  • Currently experiencing or recovering from housing instability — we've got wraparound support to help you stay enrolled and succeed

  • You do not need prior healthcare experience. You just need to show up ready.

  • We don't just hand you a textbook and wish you luck. Every Career Institute student has access to:

  • Case management

  • Housing support through Pathways to Promises

  • Childcare through FGLM Learning Center

  • Counseling and mental health services

  • Required by the Illinois Board of Higher Education — Division of Private Business and Vocational Schools

  • Accreditation Status ForGirlsLikeMe Career Institute is currently seeking approval from the Division of Private Business and Vocational Schools of the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE). The institution is not currently accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting body. Students should consider this when evaluating transferability of credits or credentials.

  • Transferability of Certificate The Medical Assistant Diploma awarded upon completion is a vocational certificate. Transferability to other institutions is not guaranteed. Students interested in transferring credit should consult directly with the receiving institution prior to enrollment.

  • Tuition & Fees Tuition for this program is covered for eligible students through WIOA, TANF, and FGLM In-House Scholarships. Students are responsible for confirming their eligibility prior to enrollment. A full schedule of tuition, fees, and costs will be provided in the enrollment agreement prior to the start of the program.

  • Refund Policy A full cancellation and refund policy will be provided to each student in the enrollment agreement prior to the start of class. The same refund policy applies to all students regardless of financial aid status.

  • Student Outcome Data (Program outcome data including graduation rates, employment placement rates, certification exam passage rates, and average starting salaries will be reported here annually once the program launches.)
